Moving!!!
At Benedictine we are preparing for the Presidential Competition Feb 6-7. We will be having about 220 seniors on campus (and their families) to participate in a series of essays and interviews, competing for 5 full tuition scholarships and 5 three quarter scholarships. You must qualify to participate with a 27 ACT and a 3.2 GPA. It was a fun time when I particiated as a high school senior, but seeing the other side of it blows me away. The planning and preparation that must take place for this to occure is huge!!
Shaw had a great time on the March for Life last week with his kiddos. Through this experience of traveling with a huge group from the archdiocese, he has been inspired to get a bigger group from Maur Hill to go next year, and take their own bus! He is happy that Catholic Schools Week is drawing to a close, and is preparing for the coming Sophomore retreat, and quarter grades that are due soon.
We will keep you all updated on the new house with pictures soon - It will be a tiring week, but so much fun!

March for Life and FOCA
I am taking a group of students to the March for life in DC on January 22nd. Please pray that this up and coming generation will be more faithful to the truth than we have been!
The Freedom of Choice Act (FOCA) is set to be signed if Congress passes it on January 21-22 of 2009. The FOCA is the next sick chapter in the book of abortion. If made a law then all limitations on abortion will be lifted and the result will:
2. Eliminate health and safety regulations for abortion clinics.
3. Nullify parental consent and notification laws.
4. Invalidate laws to inform patients.
5. Repeal the Hyde Amendment: Taxpayers will pay for abortions.
6. Remove waiting periods.
7. Prohibit bans on abortion after viability.
8. Remove protections for physicians and hospitals that refuse to participate in abortions. That is 30% of all hospitals in the United States.
9. Repeal the Partial Birth Abortion Ban.
*Talk about it - Pray about it*

Justus DrugStore Restaurant
Woohoo This was the most amazing restaurant ever! We decided to celerabte our 6 month-a-versary the Sunday before, so we drove 45 minutes to eat at this French Style Bistro located at Smithville, MO.
CrawDad Cakes Was our Starter - (orange-ginger pickled fennel remoulade, smoked tomatio-toasted red pepper sauce, pea shoots)
Maureen ordered Flat Iron Steak (Akaushi beef, Maytag blue cheese crème anglaise, potato and ricotta beet gnocchi duo, spinach, warm Berkshire bacon vinaigrette)
Shaw ordered Pork 2 Ways (grilled Berkshire pork ribeye and smoked crispy shoulder, apple chantilly, corn flan, bacon red wine braised red cabbage, applesticks)
We ordered Flourless Chocolate Torte for desert (milk chocolate mousse, hazelnut mousse, raspberry ginger ice cream, chocolate wafer)
...but before that came they accidently brought over an extra dessert so we ate that one for free!
Carmelized Apple Napoleon
(puff pastry, caramel parfait, apple rings, celery cream, chocolate sauce)
We also got a Bottle of French Red Wine, 100% Malbec Grapes... delicious!
