Moving!!!

Welp, we are getting ready to head out!! On Thursday we spent the evening cleaning the carpets of our new little house on second street. I was very surprised of the amount of carpet there is! Our house now is mostly hardwood floors, so this will take a bit of adjustment. Last night, we worked out little hearts out packing in order to prepare for all of the wonderful people congregating Saturday morning at 10:00 AM to help us move. People have been very kind in offering their services! It was funny last night when we took one quick load over to the new house, only to find out that the previous renters called to cancel all of the electricity, heat and water! So, another job for Shaw today is getting those back up and running! Poor man, along with that, he will also be working on his first final for his grad class plus helping me finish packing. It is a great thing that tomorrow is Saturday!!!

At Benedictine we are preparing for the Presidential Competition Feb 6-7. We will be having about 220 seniors on campus (and their families) to participate in a series of essays and interviews, competing for 5 full tuition scholarships and 5 three quarter scholarships. You must qualify to participate with a 27 ACT and a 3.2 GPA. It was a fun time when I particiated as a high school senior, but seeing the other side of it blows me away. The planning and preparation that must take place for this to occure is huge!!

Shaw had a great time on the March for Life last week with his kiddos. Through this experience of traveling with a huge group from the archdiocese, he has been inspired to get a bigger group from Maur Hill to go next year, and take their own bus! He is happy that Catholic Schools Week is drawing to a close, and is preparing for the coming Sophomore retreat, and quarter grades that are due soon.

We will keep you all updated on the new house with pictures soon - It will be a tiring week, but so much fun!

March for Life and FOCA

I am taking a group of students to the March for life in DC on January 22nd. Please pray that this up and coming generation will be more faithful to the truth than we have been!

The Freedom of Choice Act (FOCA) is set to be signed if Congress passes it on January 21-22 of 2009. The FOCA is the next sick chapter in the book of abortion. If made a law then all limitations on abortion will be lifted and the result will:

1. Nullify requirements that abortionists be licensed physicians.

2. Eliminate health and safety regulations for abortion clinics.

3. Nullify parental consent and notification laws.

4. Invalidate laws to inform patients.

5. Repeal the Hyde Amendment: Taxpayers will pay for abortions.

6. Remove waiting periods.

7. Prohibit bans on abortion after viability.

8. Remove protections for physicians and hospitals that refuse to participate in abortions. That is 30% of all hospitals in the United States.

9. Repeal the Partial Birth Abortion Ban.

*Talk about it - Pray about it*

Work...

Well Maureen is hard at work at Benedictine College. She is trying to give the best hospitality to lots of little high schoolers and their parents. O boy!

I am currently teaching my little  high schoolers a small section on Logic and Reasoning. Then we will dive into a seminar on apologetics. Knowing high schoolers, it is guaranteed to be interesting...
