New York Day 4

A wee little sleep in, followed by storing our luggage at the hotel, coffee on the run to the metro, then a long walk to the Met!  It wasn't quite open and Shaw needs breakfast so a beautiful  French pastry shop happily obliged.

The Met.  Amazing.  Too much to see.  Not enough time exists in the world!  ROOMS of amazing artists.  Architecture to dream about.  Incredible!

Grabbed an underwhelming lunch at the cafeteria, then went to Central Park with coffee in a light drizzle.  I've heard tell of the beauty of Central Park and all was true!  Rolling hills, bridges, lakes, ice rinks, rickshaws, horse drawn carriages, open grass fields.  So lovely!

LONG walk/subway back to the hotel, grabbed luggage, to Grade Central Station.  Metro to Brooklyn to discover our flight is delayed 2 hours.  Blah.

Took an Uber to airport anyway because we were just so tired!  Crazy hot airport.  Only 1 bar in the whole area where we were.  Made lots of friends there though!

Finally on to the plane for the 3 hour flight now, picked up by sweet Elizabeth to our house with sleeping children thanks to my in laws.

This trip would not have been possible without CYO, my parents, my in-laws, my family.  Thank you endlessly!!

New York day 3

Shaw woke early and had vova Scotia salmon on bagels with a double espresso and web my to the Manhattan center for his conference.

Maureen was able to sleep in a bit, woke up grabbed a coffee and immediately went off to the metro and went to the staton island ferry!  Is able to go both ways on a beautiful day. The clouds came on towards the end.

Then, I attempted to go to to the 9/11 memorial, but I went the wrong way, ended up across the Hudson in Brooklyn! After asking for directions I ended up at the museum an hour later. It was a fabulous experience.
Shaw had sushi for lunch and I had a calzone.

I then headed to central park, walked a bit then went to Columbus circle for jamba juice. Then headed to pick up shaw (after going the wrong way once) at the Manhattan center.

From there we went to happy hour at the Filipino gastropub, then to Mama Foku for ramen!

Then to walk around Chelsea market for coffee, oysters, crab claws and beer.

Then to  after party with shaw's conference, then to Small's to listen to Herald Brabern Trio, which was amazing. Then Ubered to our hotel for a late night snack and rest

New York day 2

Cafe grumpy for boring (read: no flavors) coffee and spinach feta turnovers. I walked shaw to his conference so he wouldn't get lost at the Netherlands embassy. I then walked to the empire state building down 5th avenue, coffee in hand.

Hit up Bryant park (amazing outside park with ice skating, tons of shops, charging stations etc) then to pet a manager for coffee and work emails.

Then to NYC public library, then a juice shop to get some fruit.

Then to back to the Pod to get dressed for the rest of the day (Wicked!)

Empanadas as a snack just because the cuban restaurant's name was Sophie's! It is between our Pod and grand central station so we pass it often. It was delicious!

Spotted pig for lunch. Amazing burgers, shoestring fries, chicken liver on toast, Spotted pig bitter cask version, coney island pilsener.

Straight down to world trade center, walked through the memorial,  bought tickets and rode up the tallest building in the hemisphere. 3rd tallest in the world.
Then to St Patrick's, where we met up with Jim Caviezel for some adoration, went Tiffanies, plaza hotel, walked by central park.

Columbus circle mall for bouchon bakery (Thomas Keller!) I had roasted squash sandwhich with a side salad, shaw had tuna niecosce, then chai tea lattes and pastries for dessert. Then Google video chatted with the girls!

Off to WICKED!! Amazing production. Shaw's favorite Broadway performance to date (read: only). Flying monkey rum and ozmopoliton. Pretty bad cocktails, but fun memorabilia! :)
Times square bombardment afterwards, Disney store, pet a manager for more coffee, lots of subwaying then crack pie (gooey butter cake on crack) then to the Pod.
Great drinks at salvation taco (hotel bar) then to the rooftop bar which is closed but still unlocked, so great view from 17th story of NYC, empire state building, Chrysler building and some of times square.
Bed!

New York Day 1

KC to STL (Buffalo chicken pizza for lunch)

Met super cute nuns - praying for our kids now!

Arrived in NYC 4:45 PM, took a while, but we figured out the bus system, them subway to Grand Central Station, then to our awesome Pod 39 hotel.

Walked and Subway to Babbo for dinner in Greenwich, a restaurant started by Mario Batali and Joe Bastianich.  Waited for almost an hour for wonderful seat at the bar.  Bottle of Prosecco, Mozz de Buffalo with pesto bread, olive tampenade/chickpea bread, Chiant pappedelli pasta with wild boar ragu, goose liver ravioli with balsamic vinegar sauce

Walked up 5th Avenue through shops to get to Eataly, a huge conglomerate of Italian restaurants and shops.  Purchased amazing flour less chocolate torte with caramel and espresso!

Returned to hotel to sleeeeeeeeeeeeep!
