More Honeymoon Pictures

Happy Teacher Appreciation Day Darling Husband!

Well, my mother and Elizabeth drove to Virginia a few days ago to visit my sister Emily.  They have been having such a wonderful time!  I spoke with my father on the phone yesterday, and he seems to be holding up well - watching baseball games and attending meetings.  He is on the board for the Wyandotte County Pregnancy Center - he works on the accounting books and that keeps him very busy!

This Saturday, Archbishop Nauman and Bishop Finn are both praying at the abortion clinic on Roe (the one my parents pray at every Saturday - it is about 2 miles from my parent's house in Overland Park).  It will be such a wonderful prayerful time!  Last year about 200 people were there!

Here are a few more pictures from the Honeymoon.  I have lots on my computer, so I suppose we will keep adding in 5 picture increments until everyone gets sick of them!

Teacher Appreciation Day...

Today is National Teacher Appreciation Day... so do some appreciating!

The parent club here at the school made the teachers at MH-MA breakfast and they gave us a kind card with a nice little present inside ;) Woohoo!

Traditionally I guess teachers receive an apple for their hard work and dedication...
Not really sure why that is. I thought "An apple a day kept the doctor away?"

However, by now many teachers are thinking our "hard work and dedication"
could better be rewarded with say a nice stiff

Wait.

Better yet.
Maybe this kind of apple...

Well never stop dreaming! That is what we tell our kids right?

A Few Honeymoon Pictures!

Sorry about these not being in any order at all!

This is in Positano, Italy - a beautiful city in the side of a hill right on the ocean.  The whole city is almost vertical - and entirely composed on these beautiful little walkways full of beautiful pink and purple flowers!!

Again in Positano - eating in a little restaurant right on the water.  I believe this was at De Adolfo - a restaurant that is accessible only by boat!  It was so lovely!

This was the view from our hotel in Positano.  SO BEAUTIFUL!

In Roma with Lemon Gelato!  Around every corner! :)

This was the view from our hotel in Rome.  Breathtaking!!!

That is all for now - can't wait to post more!

Limoncello

Last night Shaw made a very fun drink. It was a rough day for both of us, so upon arriving home after work we both slept (accidentally) for 2 hours! We ate dinner at 7:30 then had a little drink of limoncello, twist up and lemon served over ice. Such a fun summer drink! Unfortunately we are now out of limoncello. Tomorrow starts a new month with a fresh budget! :)
Today we are having my parents and Elizabeth over for dinner, before Mom and Elizabeth leave for DC. Right after that, my mother is flying to Ohio to be with my sister Sarah as well as the grandkids Noah and Elizabeth (and our future godchild in utero). My dad has not been to the house in a while, and no one in the party has had the honor of meeting our herb garden or my hanging pots! Unfortunately today (and the past few days) have been extremely overcast, cloudy and rainy.

Today is an extremely slow day at work. I am very grateful!! The past few months have been the busiest, most stressful weeks in a while. It is nice that it fluctuates, because it forces me to apprieciate the downtime and the busy times. If my job were this slow all the time I would go crazy!

Happy Pay Day (for those of us who get paid at the end of the month)! :)

My familiy has started a blog with topics for almost every day. Today is Weight-Loss Wednesdays. Well, I fear I cannot contribute much, except eating ice cream almost every day, and walking to work almost every day. It is about a mile to work, and usually I don't walk home - because by that time Shaw has been off work for about an hour and a half, so he comes to pick me up. I have to say that I am so glad that we started off a marriage sharing a car. It has given us both great opportunites of self-sacrifice in order to do what is best for the other. I honestly don't know what we would do with two cars. I feel as though I would never see him (and we live in Atchison!). It is so wonderful to walk to work, with my iPod in listening to cheery music wilst I walk among the little kiddos waiting for the school bus to pick them up. Yesterday I had a race with the school bus (it eventually won) it was a close call because it kept stopping to pick up kids, and I would catch up etc. It was a fun morning! However, today it was mistly, rainy and gloomy. I am very happy to not be walking home. Emmy, my office is extremely hot and stuffy b/c the air conditioning is having issues turning on. I know how wretched it is to be cold - but it is also a pain to be hot and sweaty! Luckily is hasn't been more than 70 the past few days, but I can't even open the windows at this point, because we have multiple wasp nests right outside of it! Ahhh! However, I am no longer afraid of wasps - having gotten so used to them buzzing around my head all day. Re-reading this post shows to me the great amount of complaining that I am doing - but I am so blessed and really enjoy my job, my co-workers, husband and family!

Dan and Judy, you are both in our prayers as Dan is in Florida for the big test! I can't get the idea of you guys coming up this summer out of my head - so I hope it is at all possible! You are always welcome! :)

Love,
Maureen

Spring?

Today is my last day at work before we leave. Our flight leaves on Sunday and we return 9 days later late on Monday. Apparently it is very cold up in Spokane. We will have a wonderful time! I am looking forward to Saturday, for I have been asked to be a judge in the Atchison St. Patrick's Day Parade! A golf cart will pick the judges up and drive us around to all the floats to judge. It will take about an hour! This was a great surprise because I did not even know that Atchison had a St. Patrick's Day Parade having been typically away due to Spring Break. I am greatly looking forward to it!

Shaw has but a half day at work, and my day will be very long. Fridays and Mondays are our busiest days here at Benedictine College - but they are fun. I am working hard to prepare the schedules for Spring Break and the other days that I am missing. I hope everything goes well! ahh!

We are so close to break!!! :)

How long it has been!

I apologize for lack of posting!

We are getting ready to head to Spokane so soon! We are both very excited and cannot wait to see the family, and also for the break. I think we are both very happy we decided to fly due to the incliment weather that is happening up there. It will be wonderful to see everyone!

We have our Dave Ramsey class tonight which we are both looking forward to. Unfortunately Shaw is ill with a cold, but is still trudging through work like a trooper. I hope to have some time to post pictures of the new house (I suppose that means I will have to take some!) and pictures of what has been going on in our lives. Well, Leach family, we will tell you soon in person!

Love,
Maureen
